Media for Change Close Film Theory and Film Style This module currently runs: autumn semester - Monday morning (core, 15 credits) This module introduces students to the formal characteristic of film in conjunction with key Film Studies critical tools. The purpose of the first part is to introduce students to matters of film style and meaning such as mise en scene, framing, editing, sound, costumes and tone, enabling students to develop skills of textual analysis. Students will also learn about key theories such as Star Studies, Authorship and Genre so that you can apply key theoretical models and frameworks to film analysis. In this module you will: • Develop and practice skills of close textual analysis of specific film texts • Develop an understanding of key theoretical approaches to the study of film
