Year 1 covers many of the foundational topics in English law. Our legal skills module equips you to study law at undergraduate level, and a core language module will help you develop and enhance your German language skills. The Professions, Reflections, Identities, Motivations and Ethics (PRIME) module will give you the opportunity to reflect upon important issues such as your personal and professional goals, your identity and how to protect your wellbeing on a personal and professional level. In the following year you will build on your legal knowledge and skills and examine the broader relationship between law, the legal system and wider society. You will also start to learn about different legal systems and legal cultures, in preparation for your year abroad. Year 3 is spent studying abroad at a partner institution in Germany. Your final year will give you the chance to apply your research skills to an independent project on a topic of your choice.
